About Us

Down Cape Charters & Boat Rentals is a family owned business located on the shores of Pleasant Bay, the largest contiguous bay along the Cape Cod National Seashore.  For over 30 years we have established ourselves as the area’s leading source of boat charters, tours and watercraft rentals.  We specialize primarily in small-group private boat tours and are proud to offer a fleet of upscale charter vessels for our customers to enjoy.

Down Cape Charters & Boat Rentals operates from the beach and dock of Cape Cod’s premier resort, the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club. All of our services are available to resort guests as well as the general public.

Hours

Weather permitting, our charters are available to reserve from May through October.  However, each charter/tour may have its own individual start/end date.  Please check our online calendars for specifics.

Our waterfront shack is open 7 days per week from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend.  Rental equipment is available 9am-5pm daily.

We reserve the right to close for any portion of any day if weather conditions pose a safety risk for our customers or equipment.

Pleasant Bay & Surrounding Area

Pleasant Bay encompasses 13 square miles along the shorelines of Chatham, Orleans, Harwich and Brewster.  Protected from the Atlantic Ocean by the windswept dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the bay offers tranquil waters and the stunning coastal views that have made Cape Cod famous.

Highlights for our customers include Chatham harbor with its stately homes and famous lighthouse, and the commercial fish pier with its colorful fishing fleet.  Kids and adults alike will enjoy getting up close and personal with hundreds of seals swimming and sunning themselves on the many sandbars found throughout the bay.

Customers can also enjoy time spent on the Outer Beach, a 2-mile long barrier island only accessible by boat.  Pack a lunch and spend some time beach combing along the breaking surf of the Atlantic Ocean on this uncrowded stretch of paradise!

Beyond the bay, the open Atlantic Ocean stretches east just minutes from our dock.  World class fishing, whale watching and the charms of Nantucket await those venturing beyond the Chatham inlets.  Looking for something more extreme?  Join one of our exclusive small-group shark viewing trips for an opportunity to witness one of the most feared predators on the planet!

Wequassett Resort & Golf Club
